We’re hosting the PGI Bowl-a-Thon for Literacy on Saturday, April 27. I have five good reasons you should sign up or sponsor a bowler.
The money we raise buys supplies for our Bison Bus, a mobile family literacy centre. It will visit road-accessible communities this spring, summer, and fall. We need to keep buying books, as well as craft supplies to give to families.
- Support early literacy. The Bison Bus makes it easier to spread the message that reading and early literacy development have lifelong benefits.
- Support early literacy training. The Bison Bus allows us to role-model reading and other literacy-friendly activities in NWT communities.
- Be part of the PGI tradition. We’ve held many Peter Gzowski Invitational fundraisers. Named after the late CBC personality, Peter Gzowski, the PGIs have mostly featured live performances and a novelty golf tournament, usually played on snow.
- Start a new tradition. Take part in our first bowling event!
- It’s easy to make a pledge or donation.
- Go to Canada Helps.org and donate to the Bison Bus.
- Drop off or mail a cheque to NWT Literacy Council, 5122 48th Street, PO Box 761, Yellowknife, NT X1A 2N6
- Give your money to a bowler.
- Bring your donation to the Kingpin Bowling Centre April 27 between 2 and 5 pm.
Call me at 873-9262 to register and get your pledge sheets.
